The Rosary

20 Mysteries of the Rosary: A Scriptural Journey

M. Basil Pennington, O.C.S.O

Mary has much to teach us about her son, and the rosary is the devotion by which hearts can be opened to her teaching.

Offering reflections based on Scripture on each of the twenty mysteries - the newest, the Mysteries of Light, are included - of this ancient prayer, Father M. Basil Pennington brings to those who pray the rosary a deeper experience of the mysteries and their many treasures. For those new to the rosary, this book includes the rosary prayers, step-by-step instructions on how to pray the rosary, and insight into the historical time and place of each mystery.

In his introduction called Welcome, Father Pennington includes some of the Pope's "concise reflections" on the mysteries as well as nuggets of the "rich spiritual theology" of the rosary found in the Holy Father's pastoral letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae. In 20 Mysteries of the Rosary, Pennington has combined and revised two previously published works, The Fifteen Mysteries

In Image and Word (Our Sunday Visitor, 1993) and Praying by Hand

Rediscovering the Rosary as a Way of Prayer (HarperSanFrancisco, 1991). This revision will help all who pray the rosary to mine the treasures these mysteries contain.

His Sorrowful Passion

Scriptural Chaplets of Divine Mercy

Author: Christine Haapala

Illustrations by Albrecht Durer

In this prayer book, the author integrates Sacred Scripture meditations with the prayers of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. There are two Scriptural Chaplets: one chronicles Jesus' Passion and the other features the Seven Penitential Psalms. The woodcuts of the 15th century Catholic artist, Albrecht Durer, illustrate this book.
